The virtual museum of the ancient via Flaminia deals with the reconstruction of some of the most important archaeological sites along the consular road.
The Via Flamina was built in the III century B.C. in order to ease the communication from Rome to the North-East of the country and to promote the Roman colonization policy.
The road construction dates back to 223-220 B.C. under the consulate of Gaio Flaminio: its route started from the Severian Walls (Porta Fontinalis) through the city center, connecting it to Umbria and the Piceno area till the ancient Rimini on the Adriatic coast.
The project takes into account different archaeological areas along the via Flaminia, from Ponte Milvio, the first city border, till the burgh of Malborghetto: they all have been reconstructed using the more suitable techniques and methodologies for every single structure.
The deepest and most detailed investigation regards the case of Villa of Livia.
